Definition

The position change category specifies which position components are to be changed by an update type, and in which direction.

The values in a position are split into position components. We distinguish between original and derived position components. Derived position components are calculated from the original components.

Each position has a position management procedure assigned to it, and this in turn has a

position management category. The position management category determines which independent and derived components are included in the position.

You can see from the following list which position components are maintained for the different position management categories:

Securities/Loans/Money market without index-linked bonds

Original components:

  • Units / Nominal
  • Purchase value
  • Costs
  • Valuation security
  • Valuation foreign exchange
  • Valuation costs security
  • Valuation costs foreign exchange
  • Amortization
  • Premium/discount
  • If 'Do not realize gains/losses' was not selected in the definition of the securities valuation procedure, and/or the foreign currency currency valuation procedure for treating profits, then the following components are maintained:
    • Security valuation not affecting P&L (not included in book value; for transfers [valuation class transfer, securities account transfer])
    • Forex valuation not affecting P&L (not included in book value; for transfers [valuation class transfer, securities account transfer])
    • Costs: Security valuation not affecting P&L (not included in book value ; for transfers [valuation class transfer, securities account transfer])
    • Costs: Forex valuation not affecting P&L (not included in book value ; for transfers [valuation class transfer, securities account transfer])

Derived components:

  • Acquisition value = purchase value + costs
  • Amortized acquisition value = acquisition value + amortization
  • Book value = amortized acquisition value + premium/discount + valuations
  • Book value without costs = book value - costs - valuation costs
