Definition

Describes the reason for closing an existing escrow account for a mortgage loan.

Use

The following closure reasons are possible, depending on whether the escrow account was opened by the borrower voluntarily or made compulsory by the bank.

• The mortgage to which the escrow account was assigned has been repaid in full.
• The borrower decides to close an escrow account that he opened voluntarily, irrespective of the repayment status of the mortgage loan.

  This right to close the account does not apply if the escrow account has been opened by the bank.
