Definition
Using a rate type, you can allocate a rate to a register, device, rate category or installation. Allocation is carried out using historical rate determination; this is dependent on the rate category of the installation. For example, it is possible to change all rates for an installation by entering a new rate category. You must not change all rate types.
Rate types can be maintained in the following objects:
- Register
In the case of billing-relevant registers, you must specify a rate type in the installation structure. In this way you establish that the consumption or demand of a register is billed with the corresponding rate.
- Device
You can specify a rate type for the device if, for example, you wish to charge a rental price at the device level. You may wish to do this if the device has no billing-relevant registers.
- Rate category
You can use rate types in the rate category to bill nonregister-related values. Example: via the rate type, a rate is found that bills a flat rate.
- Installation
For example, if you wish to levy a flat rate on a particular installation only, you can enter the rate type in the installation facts, but not in the rate category.
