Definition

The storage type is a subdivision of a complex, physical warehouse. Different storage types are identified by their warehousing technique, form of organization, or their function.

Example

A typical warehouse could have the following storage types:

• Goods receipt area
• Picking area
• High-rack storage area
• Bulk storage area
• Open storage area
• Goods issue area

When using Lean WM, this picking storage type will be used for rough estimates and detailed planning as well as for the creation of transfer orders.

When you use WM in the normal manner to manage warehouse stock in specific storage bins, this field has no meaning and should be ignored. In this case he system will assign the picking area based on the storage type search task.
