Definition

The determination of the planning periods in sequencing is carried out based on the periods of a planning calendar.

The planning periods divide the period of examination in sequencing into different time segments. Sequencing carries out sequence planning for the planned orders for each of these time segments.

The system proceeds as follows:

1. It determines all planned orders whose basic start dates lie within a certain planning period.
2. It establishes the sequence for these planned orders according to the procedure specified in the procedure profile.

For the determination of the planning periods, an appropriate planning calendar must be defined in the planning profile.
