Provides an external reference in the document.
Use
You can use the External Reference 1, 2, 3, and 4 fields for your own purposes, for instance, for entering an invoice number.
Dependencies
The External Reference 4 field is not transferred to the FI document in the standard SAP system. However, you can use this field for your own purposes.
If you activated document summarization, then the system checks during summarization if the contents of these fields are the same. The system thereby prevents line items that have different references (such as, different invoices) from being summarized.
