Definition

Controls whether an extended change of notification type is allowed.

Use

With this indicator, you specify whether a change of notification type is also allowed for notifications that do not have the notification category General Notification. Changing the notification type is then possible in the QM-specific notification transactions, such as QM01, QM02.

Dependencies

If you set this indicator, the original notification type and the target notification type must belong to the notification category Quality Notification.

Note that in the case of a change of notification type, the fields that are irrelevant for the new notification type are not deleted by default. This can lead to problems in certain situations (see example).

If you want to specify that certain data that becomes obsolete following a change of notification type (for example, reference objects) is to be deleted, the Business Add-In Checks for Extended Change of Notification Type (BADI_IQS0_NOTIF_TYPE_CHANGE) is available for this in Customizing for Quality Management under Environment -> Tools -> Business Add-Ins -> Quality Notification.

Example

You have not implemented the Business Add-In Checks for Extended Change of Notification Type and you change a customer complaint with reference to a sales order into a complaint against the vendor with reference to a purchasing document.

If you now select the notifications for all sales orders, the complaint against the vendor is also displayed because the document fields are not deleted by default in the standard system. If you open the complaint against the vendor, however, you will not see any data relating to the sales order.
