Documentation
Definition
The process capability index cpk is a measurement for the expected share of nonconforming units in the process. The larger the value, the smaller the share.
Use
For characteristic values with a normal distribution the following formula is used in the calculation:
cpk = min((ULV - x-bar), (x-bar - LLV)) / 3*s
ULV and LLV are the limits of the tolerance area, x-bar and s are estimated values for the expected value and standard deviation of the original values.
Note
If no master inspection characteristic, or inspection characteristic exists in the current drill-down, the Cpk value is not relevant. In such a case, asterisks (***) appear in place of the Cpk value. Similarly, if no tolerances exist, asterisks (***) appear in place of the Cpk value.
