Definition

For inspection lots for goods movements

Defines that under certain conditions as a result of goods movements an existing inspection lot is enhanced, and that no new inspection lot is created.

In this lot summary, the stock from the inspection lot is increased by the stock quantities from the following goods movements. The lot summary does not take place when the inspection lot stock created with the first goods receipt is already completely credited when further partial deliveries are received.

If a usage decision has already been made for the existing inspection lot, the inspection lot summary is dependent on the latter's valuation.

  • For the valuation "Acceptance", further partial deliveries are posted into the available stock without creating a new inspection lot.
  • For the valuation "Rejection", new inspection lots are created with the following partial deliveries.

For inspection lots for outbound deliveries

Defines whether partial lots or inspection lots are to be generated for batch split items.

Use

For inspection lots for goods movements

The control during goods movements is made using the following inspection lot origins:

  • 01 Goods receipt for a purchase order
  • 04 Goods receipt for a production order
  • 05 Other goods receipt
  • 08 Stock transfer

You can make the following settings:

  • ' ' An inspection lot for each material document item (No lot summary)

An inspection lot is created for each item in the goods receipt document.

  • 'X' An inspection lot for each purchase order item/order item
This setting is limited for use with the inspection lot origins 01 and 04.

An inspection lot is only created during the first goods receipt for each PO item or production order.

  • 'Y' An inspection lot for an early goods receipt inspection
This setting is only relevant for inspection lot origin 04.

An inspection lot with inspection lot origin 04 is created when a production or process order is released. You can use this inspection lot to inspect goods receipts of the finished quantities and then manage them after goods receipt posting in the inspection lot stock.
Recommendation: Avoid making a usage decision for this type of early inspection lot before any goods receipts have been posted. The usage decision will then have a stock quantity of 0, but will not have the status completely credited. This means that any following goods receipts will be posted into the stock for this inspection lot. You must then credit this lot from the stock quantity yourself, even if you do not intend to perform further checks.

  • '1' An inspection lot for each material document and material

If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for a material document (in a goods receipt transaction) for each material. This setting is useful, if several purchase orders or partial deliveries are processed for the same material in a goods receipt transaction.

  • '2' An inspection lot for each material and batch

If you set this indicator, the system creates only one inspection lot for each material and batch. This setting is only advisable for materials with a batch management requirement.

For inspection lots for outbound deliveries

This control is relevant for the following inspection lot origins:

  • 10 Delivery to customer with sales order
  • 11 Delivery to customer without sales order
  • 12 General delivery

You can make the following settings:

  • ' ' An inspection lot for each main item

An inspection lot is created for the main item. A partial lot is created for every batch split item.

  • '3' An inspection lot for each batch split item

An inspection lot is only created for the main item if the main item has a batch. An inspection lot is created for every batch split item as soon as the batch is known.
This setting is only effective for materials requiring batch management.

Dependencies

For inspection lots for goods movements

The lot summary does not take place, and new inspection lots are created when:

  • The batch is changed for materials subject to batch management,
  • Goods receipts are posted to different plants or storage locations,
  • A previously created inspection lot has already been completely credited from the stock,
  • Different special stocks are being posted,
  • A previously created inspection lot has been canceled.

The lot summary is not supported in the following instances:

  • The inspection lot manages serial numbers.
  • The inspection lot manages handling units.
The special case "Inspection lot for early inspection", does support the lot summary.
  • For inspection lot origin 01: There is a status profile in the quality information record, which has not yet been run competely.

If you have made settings for the lot summary, no ship to stock takes place for skip lot. That is to say, the stock type is not immediately changed from "in quality check" to "unrestricted-use".

For inspection lots for outbound deliveries

Changes in the settings are not considered for delivery items that already exist if inspection lots or partial lots already exist for these delivery items.
