Documentation

Definition

Key which together with the controlling area uniquely identifies a profit center.

Supplementary Documentation - PRCTR 0001

Use

When you create a profit center, the R/3 System transfers all the attributes from the reference profit center that are suitable for the new profit center in its organizational unit.

If the reference profit center exists in a different controlling area than the new one, a transfer is not advisable, especially for the hierarchy area.

You can only transfer the company code assignments if the new profit center lies in the same controlling area as the reference profit center.

Use

The dummy profit center is always used during data transfer if the original assignment object (e.g. cost center, order etc.) is not assigned to a profit center. This guarantees a complete dataset in Profit Center Accounting. The data on the dummy profit center can be sent to the real profit centers using assessment or distribution.

Procedure

You create master data for the dummy profit center using a special function, other maintenance (change and display) is performed using the standard functions.

Supplementary Documentation - PRCTR 0200

Dependencies

You must specify a profit center when you work with networks in the Projects System.
When you create a network, the profit center is taken from the data for the MRP controller, if it could not be found based on one of the following:

  • from the source network (if you copied one)
  • from the corresponding WBS element
  • from the definition of the project

Supplementary Documentation - PRCTR 0600

Use

You can make an organizational assignment of a profit center to an order. The R/3 System posts automatically on the profit center when you make a posting on the order.

Dependencies

You cannot change the profit center after posting costs on the order.

Supplementary Documentation - PRCTR 1000

Use

A dummy profit center is used during data transfer in cases where the object which was originally posted to (e.g. cost center, order,...) was not assigned to a profit center. This ensures that no data is missing in EC-PCA. The data can then be assigned or distributed to the proper profit center.

As of Release 2.1, you can create the dummy profit center using a special transaction. However, you change and display the dummy profit center using the standard profit center maintenance transactions.

Use

You can change the assignment of one or more cost centers to a profit center at a later date during a fiscal year. The following conditions must be met:

  • The currency of the new company code corresponds with the currency of the old company code.

No currency translations are currently being executed.

  • You have posted only plan data in the given fiscal year.
  • The cost center is not assigned to a fixed asset, work area or HR master record.

To date, the R/3 System does not check whether the cost center is assigned to a HR master record.
