Determines the way in which the system handles requirements planning.
Use
You can use the planning type to control, for example, lot sizing, inventory management, and storage costs. When you create a sales order, for example, you can specify a planning type for each schedule line. During sales order and delivery processing, the planning type, in combination with the requirements type controls whether the system

- Checks availability
Procedure
The schedule line category determines the planning type. You cannot change the planning type during sales order processing.
