Definition
For natural persons, this field contains the Taxpayer reference number (NIF) of the payee or declared party, in accordance with Royal Decree (Real Decreto) 338/1990 of the 9th of March, which regulates the composition of the NIF, and its uses (Official Government Newsletter (BOE), March 14th).
If the payee or declared party is an entity in an income-paying category (joint marital ownership, private company, passive inheritance etc.), this field contains the its tax identification number.
This field is justified to the right, with the final space being the control digit, and the spaces to the left being filled with zeros.
For payees who are legal minors and do not have a NIF, instead of completing this field, the 'Legal representative NIF'field is filled.
