Definition
A unique identifier for banks involved in international financial transactions.
Use
A BIC is used to identify the receiving financial institution in an international payment. It is used together with the International Bank Account Number (IBAN), which identifies the beneficiary.
A BIC contains 8 to 11 alphanumeric characters and it can comprise the following elements:
- Bank code
- Country code
- Location code
- Branch code
The system displays the number that you enter in the SWIFT Code for International Payments field in the Change Bank (FI02) transaction. To access this transaction, in the Easy Access menu, choose Accounting -> Financial Accounting -> Banks -> Master Data -> Bank Master Record -> Change.
