Definition
The employer assignment unit is an organizational unit that identifies the company or parts of the company clearly with administrations. Your company or parts of your company are identified through the addresses and the contact persons you specify. Secondly, your company or parts of your company are identified through a technical key that the administrations assign to you (for example, the employer tax number with the local tax office).
The employer assignment unit can be responsible for the payroll for one or more personnel subareas. Thus, in many cases, the employer assignment unit is the same as your company's payroll department. However, this is not necessarily so. Your company's payroll department can have several identification numbers with different administrations.
Thus, it can appear as "different employers" for the administration: In dealing with different administrations, the payroll department can name, for example, different employer tax numbers. The employer tax number for the employer assignment unit, however, remains the same.
Example
Your company is divided into the personnel subareas Vienna, Linz and Salzburg. The employer assignment unit 0001 is responsible for personnel subarea Vienna's payroll. The employer assignment unit 0002 is responsible for the personnel subareas Linz' and Salzburg's payroll.
