Definition

Supplementary employer benefits can be entered in the Deferred Compensation infotype.

Description

When supplementary employer benefits are involved, the input wage types of the wage type group are not reduced in the payroll function for deferred compensation.

If the indicator for supplementary employer benefits is set, pension contributions from conversions can be entered as input wage types to form the supplementary employer benefit. You can use this function, for example, if the employer's contribution is a percentage share of the employee-financed deferred compensation. In this case, you must add the wage type of the employee's contribution to the wage type group for forming the employer contribution.

If a supplementary employer benefit is provided, the full amount of the benefit is exempt from tax and contributions. In contrast, if employee-financed deferred compensation is involved, the share of the conversion amount that exceeds 4% of the PI income threshold (West) is liable to contributions according to sec. 115 SGB IV. This regulation only applies to execution methods "employer commitment" and "relief fund".
