Documentation

Definition

Specification of special functions for an object entry.

Use

The field normally remains empty.
Only a few objects are handled specially by the function when they are imported.

The list below shows for which objects you can specify an object function:

  • Function "M" (delete and recreate in database)
    • "LIMU" "TABD" table definition
    • "R3TR" "TABL" table with documentation
    • "LIMU" "VIED" view definitions
    • "R3TR" "VIEW" DD view with documentation

For objects with key entries
"R3TR" "TABU" general table contents
the following additional functions are possible:

  • Function " "
    • Deletes all table entries of the specified table in the target system.
    • Inserts all table entries from the source system into the target system.
  • Function "K"
Which keys or key areas should be transported is defined in the key table. (See Goto -> Object key in the object editor.)

When objects are deleted they are removed from the source system. At the time of the export, the export program (R3trans) realizes that the object does not exist. In this case, a "D" is placed in the Object function field.

Deleting table entries is analogous to deleting objects. First the keys are deleted in the source system. The deleted keys are then specified in the request. At the time of the export, the transport program realizes that the specified keys do not exist and deletes them in the target system. A corresponding entry is made in the Object function field.

Procedure

If you want to change the object function, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the request overview of the Transport Organizer, and position the cursor on the request:
  2. Choose Display object list.
  3. Switch to change mode.
  4. Position the cursor on the object.
  5. In the menu, choose Extras -> Change object function.
