Definition
Specifies the principle according to which the system valuates newly created layers.
Use
When you run LIFO valuation, new layers are formed if the stock quantities increase. The valuation principle defines the price that the system uses to calculate the associated gross values.
On the start screen for the LIFO valuation program, you define the valuation principle used. If you use layer versions, you can store a default for the valuation principle for each layer version in Customizing.
You can choose between the following valuation principles:
- Total settlement period ('SDM') -
The gross value is derived from the average price of all receipts for the preceding settlement period. - Partial year ('SDT') -
The gross value is derived from the average price of all receipts for a particular partial year. - Price on a fill-up basis ('SDM') -
Depending on the stock situation, the gross value is calculated dynamically from the receipts for the preceding settlement period. The excess stock quantity is "filled up" with the receipt quantities at the start of the settlement period. This principle is also known as "monthly period LIFO". - Material master price ('SDJ') -
The gross value is derived from a price that you have previously specified in the material master. - Index LIFO ('IDM') -
The gross value is derived without a price using the Index LIFO procedure. This principle is also known as the "dollar value procedure". You can only use it with LIFO valuation for pools.
