Use
There are two uses:
- If you have selected the MRP type "MRP" and have set a period lot-sizing procedure according to planning calendar, you enter here which planning calendar is to be used.
- If you selected the "time-phased planning" MRP type, the planning calendar that you specify here defines the delivery cycle. This specifies the days on which the vendor delivers the material. You can enter the planning cycle in addition to the delivery cycle.

The following example refers to the use in connection with the "time-phased planning" MRP type.
It makes sense to enter a delivery cycle for the following situation, for example:
The planning run is carried out and orders are placed every Monday and Tuesday. The materials that are ordered on Monday are delivered on Wednesday but the materials that are ordered on Tuesday are not delivered until Friday.
The system interprets an additional planned delivery time as a minumum delivery time, that is, as many days pass between the planning run or the purchase order and delivery.

You must enter a planning calendar from an existing plant for a correct definition of the profile.

Use
Using the planning calendar, you can define the periods for grouping the summarized JIT calls into daily quantities.
The planning calendar determines whether a new summarized JIT call is created when setting the kanban to EMPTY or whether a new item is simply added on to an existing summarized JIT call. If no summarized JIT calls exist in the current period, a new one is created.
