Definition
The type of inventory management for the production storage location determines how the inventory is to be built up in the production storage location of SAP ME.
Use
You have the following options:
- Inventory management only via incoming transfer postings
The inventory in the production storage location in SAP ME is built up by plant-internal transfer postings to this storage location, for example using movement type 311. Other goods receipts or goods issues to/from this storage location are not allowed if they are started from ERP. If you choose this option, you must post the receipts from production to a different storage location.
- Inventory management only via goods issue to production order
The inventory of finished components in the production storage location in SAP ME is built up by order-related goods issue postings from this storage location. In ERP, goods receipt postings and receipt postings can be done using transfer postings to this storage location. However, goods issues can only occur with reference to a production order.
- No restrictions with regard to goods movements
Goods movements are not restricted to this storage location. This is the standard setting.
Dependencies
The type of inventory management controls what check are executed for the goods movements to/from this storage location.
Example
Note
If you are using several production storage locations with different inventory management types in SAP ME, you must go to the DRF and set up two replication models for goods movements to be able to control the goods movements sent to SAP ME for specific storage locations.
