Definition

Each transaction has at least one transaction direction.

For example, a loan or a money market transaction has exactly one direction. It can be either a payable or a receivable transaction.

An interest rate swap typically has two directions. One direction represents the fixed part, whilst the other direction describes the variable aspect.
