Definition

The average market volume is calculated from the average daily market volumes. It is a base value used for calculating imputed surcharges such as provision costs or additional equity costs.

Market volume is calculated daily based on current position and the current market rate. The average market volume is determined by adding daily amounts together for the duration of the reporting period and dividing the total by the number of days in the period. On non-trading days, the market volume from the previous day or from the start of the period is used.
