Definition
If you select this option, the evaluation takes into account the cases that have at least one surgery movement but no surgical DRG.
The definition of a surgical DRG is based on the AR-DRG classification system.
There are 661 DRGs in the AR-DRG classification system:
- The first character represents the main diagnostic category (MDC): codes A-Z, and 9 (non-classifiable treatment episodes).
- The following two characters represent the basic AR-DRG that is generally sub-divided into three separate partitions.
- Codes 01-39 identify surgery AR-DRGs.
- Codes 40-59 are used for AR-DRGs of cases with non-operating room procedures (e.g. endoscopy of digestive organs).
- Codes 60-99 identify the medical AR-DRGs.
- The fourth character identifies the CC and/or age, i.e. the patient clinical complexity level (PCCL)
The 2nd and 3rd positions of a DRG code represent the following:
- 01-39 operative DRG
- 40-59 intermediary DRG
- 60-99 conservative DRG
