The definition of an error DRG is based on the AR-DRG classification system.
There are 661 DRGs in the AR-DRG classification system:
- The first character stands for the main diagnostic category (MDC) : codes A-Z, and 9 (non-classifiable treatment episodes).
An error DRG code always starts with 9.
