Definition
Part of the forecast model which, for the forecast calculation, represents the past level of the forecast model.
Procedure
The forecast model you use determines whether the system calculates a trend value as well as the basic value, or whether it multiplies the basic value by the seasonal index.
The basic value is the first value to be calculated by the system on the basis of the historical values. It is then updated at the end of every period using the alpha factor.
