A posting period is a self-contained part of a fiscal year.
Use
Every business transaction is allocated to a posting period. The monthly debits and credits of the different business transactions are accumulated per posting period.
Examples of period classifications:
- Per calendar month -> 12 posting periods
- Every 4 weeks -> 13 posting periods
- Weekly -> 52 or 53 posting periods
