Definition
The tracing factor is the relationship according to which the splitting of activity-independent costs are divided among the activity types.
Actual cost splitting consists of two splitting steps:
- In the first splitting step the actual costs are divided according to the target values (in primary costs along target costs, in secondary costs along target quantities if available, otherwise also along target costs). If no target costs are available or if they were planned activity-independent for this cost element, it is necessary to use a second splitting step.
- If no target costs are available, there is no tracing factor for the first splitting step. In case activity-independent costs were planned for each cost element, a part of the costs remain on the cost center.
Plan cost splitting consists only of the second splitting step.
