Definition
The object type describes the features common to all instances of that object type. Each individual object belongs to a special object type, depending upon the nature and general characteristics of the object.
Object types are broadly classified into four categories.
- Repository objects
- This includes repository objects such as data elements (DTEL), domains (DOMA), Program (ABAP), Function group (FUGR), BADI etc.
- BI (Business Information Warehouse) objects
- This includes InfoCubes and ODS objects like ODS, ODSF, IOBJA, IOBJ, CUBE, CUBEI.
- Customizing objects
- This includes company codes and chart of accounts. These object types start with 'X'.
- Master data objects
- This includes Master data objects starting with 'Y' like YASST, YBUPA, YCOCE etc.
