Definition
Key with which the exchange rates are stored in the system.
Use
You define exchange rate types to be able to define different exchange rates.
Example
You can use exchange rate types to define bank buying rates, bank selling rates and median average rates for converting foreign currency. The median average rate can be used to convert currency, the bank buying and selling rates to valuate foreign currency amounts.
Note
If desired, you can create a separate currency type at production start- up of the material ledger to enable you to define historical exchange rates for the currencies managed in the material ledger. This information is only of relevance for production start-up.
If you make no entry, the system uses the exchange rate category defined in FI for every currency category.
