Documentation
Definition
This indicator specifies whether a related, active archive information structure (AIS) is required in order to use this archiving object.
Use
In the mass data environment, data must be archived as quickly as possible to prevent the dataset in the operational system from becoming too large. Various business-related processes have to take the archive dataset into consideration when deciding whether a particular activity is permitted or not, and in these cases, access to an archive information structure may be required. If you want to carry out the activity, you must determine a structure first. However, in other cases, you may decide whether or not you wish to use an AIS.
This indicator serves to differentiate between the two cases described above. If the system requires an active AIS for the archiving object, but one has not been specified, it terminates the current logical unit of work and outputs a corresponding error message. In other cases, the system rejects the settings for the definition.
