Definition

For the purposes of the settlement run for end-of-period rebates, the settlement date decides whether a condition record is due for settlement. For settlement accounting to take place, the validity period of the condition record must have expired (that is, the validity end date of the condition record must be earlier than or the same as the settlement date).

A further essential prerequisite is that the associated rebate arrangement must satisfy the selection criteria.

Arrangements whose validity period lies in the future are not taken into account by the settlement program.

The settlement date should be earlier than or the same as the current date (except in the case of the settlement simulation), because settlement accounting should only be carried out for arrangements or condition records if their validity period has expired.

Provided that the report is not run in the background, however, it is possible to carry out settlement accounting for arrangements prior to the expiration of their validity periods (after an appropriate confirmation prompt). This is necessary, for example, in the case of arrangements that have to be deleted or condition records for which the deletion indicator has been set, in order to carry out settlement accounting with respect to any existing business volume data or dissolve any provisions that may have been created.

More specifically, the following applies:

  • Arrangements requiring periodic settlement (arrangements with a settlement calendar)

For arrangements requiring periodic settlement, the settlement date also decides whether a final settlement or merely an interim settlement is to take place. If the settlement date is later than or the same as the validity end date of the arrangement, a periodic final settlement is carried out. Otherwise, an interim settlement is effected. A condition record of the arrangement is settled if the validity end date of the condition record is earlier than or the same as the settlement date.

For an interim settlement, the settlement date would have to be chosen as the validity end date of the corresponding period condition records. To carry out final settlement accounting, the validity end date of the arrangement must be chosen.

  • Arrangements requiring non-periodic settlement (arrangements without a settlement calendar)

As a basic rule, settlement accounting for non-periodic arrangements is carried out once only, after expiration of the arrangement validity period. In this case, the settlement date would be the arrangement validity end date.
