Regional and transregional authorities can assign numbers for waste management business partners. You can specify these regional and transregional authority-assigned numbers in the master data for the Waste Management component. You can assign a validity area to each authority-assigned number and thus specify the area in which the corresponding number has legal validity.

The validity area is used to automatically determine, from all the authority-assigned numbers for a waste management business partner, the regional and transregional authority-assigned numbers that must be output on waste approvals and disposal documents. The numbers are determined as standard as follows:

1. Processing of Customer Exit EXIT_SAPLEHSWA_008_001

First, the regional and transregional authority-assigned numbers are determined in accordance with the entries you made in the customer exit EXIT_SAPLEHSWA_008_001.

Caution: If the parameter E_FLG_CONT_WITH_STANDARD is not initial in the customer exit, the system then runs the standard logic that overwrites the results of the customer exit. The customer exit data is not added to here; the data is always determined either according to one logic (customer exit) or the other (standard logic).

2. Processing of Standard Logic

  1. If no customer exit is specified or if its settings specify that the standard logic is used, the transregional authority-assigned number is determined for a waste management business partner as follows:

Note: If the determination applies to transregional business partners, the system determines both the regional and the transregional authority-assigned numbers via the transregional business partner. If no regional number is assigned to the transregional partner, no regional authority number is printed on the disposal document, even if a regional authority number is assigned to the original (lower-level) partner. So if a regional authority number is required for a lower-level partner, the validity area also needs to be assigned to it in the master data to be able to derive the transregional authority-assigned number.

    • In the Specify Disposal Document Types IMG activity you can specify a validity area for each disposal document type. Only the numbers that have the same validity area as the disposal document type are then output as transregional authority-assigned numbers on the disposal documents.
    • If no validity area is specified for the disposal document type, the transregional number is determined as described in 2.2.
    • If the validity area for the disposal document type has no equivalent in the validity areas for the business partner, the system attempts to derive the transregional number from the next highest level of business partners if this is set up accordingly in Customizing for the document type.
    • In the Specify Waste Approval Types IMG activity you can specify the required disposal document type(s) for each waste approval type. You must select one of these disposal document types when you create a waste approval of the waste approval type. Only the numbers that have the same validity area as the disposal document type selected are then output as transregional authority-assigned numbers on the waste approval.
  2. If the system cannot determine the transregional authority-assigned number for a waste management business partner in the manner described above, it is determined as follows from the address data for the waste management business partner:
    • For the transregional authority-assigned number, the system uses the address data to determine the country to which the waste management business partner belongs. The transregional authority-assigned number is then the number with a validity area that corresponds to the country. A validity area corresponds to a country if the corresponding country, and no region, has been assigned to the validity area in this IMG activity under Assign Validity Area/Country. If you have not specified a country in the address data, neither the transregional nor the regional authority-assigned number can be determined in this way.
  3. For the regional authority-assigned number, the system uses the address data to determine the country and the region to which the waste management business partner belongs. The regional authority-assigned number is then the number with a validity area that corresponds to the region in the country for the waste management business partner. A validity area corresponds to a region in a country if the corresponding country and the corresponding region have been assigned to the validity area in this IMG activity under Assign Validity Area/Country. If you have specified a country but not a region in the address data, the regional authority-assigned number cannot be determined in this way.

In this IMG activity, you specify the validity areas that you can assign to the authority-assigned numbers for the waste management business partners in the master data and to the disposal document types in Customizing.

Standard settings

Default settings are delivered.

Activities

  1. Call the IMG activity.
  2. Analyze which validity areas you require in Waste Management.
  3. Check the default settings and add the required validity areas. In Waste Management, only the validity area category REGION is used, which means that you should only assign validity areas in this category for Waste Management. You specify the validity area categories in the Specify Validity Area Categories IMG activity in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools.
  4. Check and add to the corresponding assignments of countries and regions for the individual validity areas under Assign Validity Area/Country. For these assignments, take into account the automatic determination described above of the regional or transregional authority-assigned numbers for waste management business partners.

    Examples:

    • You must assign the value US in the Cty field and leave the Rg field blank for a validity area that corresponds to the United States of America.
    • You must assign the value US in the Cty field and the value TX in the Rg field for a validity area that corresponds to the U.S. state of Texas.
