In this section, you define the output types for the Trading Contract. In the SAP system, output types map different types of messages, such as a printout of the trading contract for the customer, or printout of the trading contract for the vendor.

To define the output type, you must make the following settings:

  • Output type

Alphanumeric key with up to four characters, that uniquely identifies the output type.

  • Description

Text description of the message type

  • Access sequence

    Key of the access sequence

Other Parameters (only the most important parameters are explained here)

  • Access to conditions

Indicator that defines that message data is proposed via the condition technique.

  • Dispatch Time

One-digit key that determines the time of message processing (for example, as soon as a document is saved, or during the next selection run.)

  • Transmission medium

One-digit key that determines the type of message processing (for example, print output, fax transmission.)

  • Partner function

Defines the recipient of the message.

  • Archiving mode

Controls whether a document is printed only, archived only, or printed and archived.

  • Document type

    Identifies the archived message.

  • Print parameters

One-digit key that defines the requirements used to determine the print parameters (see section "Define Print Parameters.")

Note

The values entered in the detailed data for transmission medium, time and partner function are adopted automatically as the default values when a message record is created for the message type.

Example

Requirements

In the Trading Contract, there are various target groups to which correspondence can be addressed:

  • Customer
  • Vendor
  • Employee in the trading house

Recommendation

Activities

  1. Check the extent to which the message types in the standard SAP system match your requirements.
  2. Define your message types for the Trading Contract.

Further notes

This note relates only to message types for trading house employees:

Message types for employees are provided as partner-independent message types, as message determination is only provided for partner roles of the type "LI" (vendor), "KU" (customer) and "AP" (contact person). None of these role types is suitable for the employee target group. Instead the system tries to find an address for the person responsible for the trading contract. However, for this to be possible, a user name that exists in the user master must be entered in the Person responsible field of the trading contract.
