Define File Source and Archive Directories for Data Transfer

Use

In this customizing activity, you define the source and archive directories for the object types used in Data Transfer.

You can use the directories in the Data Transfer Directories view as the destination path for exported files, or as the source for files to be imported or converted. Only logical directory names that have been included in the Data Transfer Directories view can be used in the Export Master Data, Import Master Data, and Convert Master Data screens.

Once the system has imported a selected object type it moves the files to the archive directory defined for that object type. You can define these archive directories in the Archive Path for Object Type view. After a successful import of the files into the system, the files are moved automatically from the selected source directory into the archive directory. The files in the archive directory must be deleted manually in order to free disk space.

Requirements

To assign directories as sources or archives you must first create physical directory paths in the file system and then use the FILE transaction to map them to logical names. These logical names can then be used in this Customizing activity.
