Use

In this IMG activity, you define the general description for an attribute.

Requirements

Standard settings

Activities

Make the following entries:

  • Element Type ID

    Element type whose elements are to have the attribute. You must create the element type in the registry.

  • Attribute ID

    Technical name of the attribute, user-defined.

  • Alias ID

    Has no meaning in the standard system.

  • Repository ID

    Has no meaning in the standard system.

  • Data Type

    Use the F4 help. You must perform one of the three IMG activities Create Attribute Description for Type STRING, Create Attribute Description for Type INTEGER, and Create Attribute Description for Type DDIC Table Field.

  • Checkboxes

    The checkboxes contain properties of the attribute that you can activate.

    • Multiple Values: The user can enter multiple attribute values.
    • Editable: A value can be assigned to the attribute. The value can be entered directly, from the input help, or in the background. To specify whether this value can be entered or not, use the checkbox Editable in the IMG activity Create Visualization Description.
    • Editable Once: The user can enter only one attribute. This value can then no longer be edited.
    • Language-Sensitive: The attribute value is saved with a language.
    • Required: The user cannot exit the maintenance dialog until he or she has specified an attribute value.
    • Input Help: The user can choose the input help saved in the ABAP Dictionary. Prerequisite: You must have selected the data type ABAP Dictionary Table Field.
    • Value Check: The user can choose the value check saved in the ABAP Dictionary. Prerequisite: You must have selected the data type ABAP Dictionary Table Field.
    • Value Generation: You can generate the attribute value. (The user can start the generation by using the value help button.) Prerequisite: You must have implemented the class role VALUE_HANDLER.
    • Visible: You can see the attribute in the maintenance dialog. You must also perform the IMG activity Create Visualization Description.
    • Visible in List: You can see the attribute in the hit list. You must also perform the IMG activity Create Visualization Description List Display.
    • Searchable: You can see the attribute in the search dialog. You must also perform the IMG activity Create Search Description.
    • Logging: Any changes to the attribute value are logged. Prerequisite: You must have implemented the class role IS_SP_PROTOCOL_HANDLER. For more information, see the documentation The Records Management Framework under the recordsmanagement alias in the Service Marketplace.
  • Kurzbeschreibung

    Semantic name of the attribute shown to the user in the maintenance dialog, search dialog, and hit list.

  • Bezeichnung Einheit

    Relevant only for attributes that require a unit. Examples: km, t, l. The unit is added to the value in the attribute maintenance dialog
