In this IMG activity, you define the time limits you want to use in your academic calendars.
Standard settings
Campus Management contains the following standard time limits:
- 0100 - standard duration of academic session (continuous time limit)
You use this standard time limit to define the start and end dates of academic sessions in the academic calendar.
- 0200 - class period
You use this standard time limit to define the periods in which your university offers teaching events. The class period of an academic session can differ from the standard duration of the academic session. For example, the class period can start after and end before the actual academic session. If you do not define any class periods, the system assumes that teaching events can be planned throughout the entire academic session.
- 0300 - module booking (with priorities)
You use this standard time limit to define when students are allowed to book modules. The system uses this information to ensure that the modules offered in a specific academic session (defined by the standard duration of the academic session) are booked within the time period specified in the module booking (with priorities) time limit. You can also combine the dates of this time limit with time windows for various student groups.
The function of each standard time limit is predefined. You can override the descriptions of these standard time limits with your own time limits. To do so, create your own time limits in this IMG activity and assign these to the respective function in the IMG activity Define Mandatory Time Limits for Academic Calendar.
Activities
- Enter a four-character alphanumeric key and a description for each time limit you create.
- Set the Non-Overlapping indicator if the time periods defined by the time limit dates may not overlap in the academic calendar.
- Set the ContTL indicator if you want to use the time limit as a reference for relative dates.
Further notes
In fee calculation and correspondence, you use time limits in conjunction with a time limit sequence.
- For an example, see Using Time Limit Sequences in Fee Calculation.
- For information on the use of time limit sequences in correspondence, see Define Time Limit-Dependent Address Determination in the Campus Management Implementation Guide (IMG).
