In this IMG activity, you assign calculations to measurement types.

The measurement type is very important to the Measurement System. It defines a consistent set of readings to be taken for a business object, such as a delivery network measurement point.

Calculations are assigned to measurement types to allow readings within a measurement type to be calculated automatically. The readings that are calculated are usually the standardized readings required by PRA and they are usually calculated using SAP-supplied calculation functions such as the QCI conversion.

Each calculation is defined as a function with a standard interface that defines a set of input (observed) parameters and a set of output (derived) parameters. When a calculation is assigned to a measurement type, the readings within the measurement type are assigned to the observed and/or derived parameters of the function interface.

Example

The measurement type MV_GGEN (generic gas measurement point) uses the following calculations, among others:

OIU_ME_WCDVLH_VOL_HEAT_PRESS    Volumetric/heating value pressure

OIU_ME_CALC_HEAT_VAL            PRA Measurement: Calculate heating value

OIU_ME_COPY_VALUE                Copy one value to another

OIU_QCI_STD_CONVERSION            Calculate Gas Volume, Quantity, Energy by QCI

The heating value calculation (OIU_ME_CALC_HEAT_VAL) assigns readings to the observed and derived parameters as follows:

Observed

OVL    Observed volume

OEN    MMBTU

Derived

OHV    Obs. Heating Value

Requirements

  • Calculations are defined
  • Measurement types are defined, as well as any corresponding measurement classes

Standard settings

The PRA system is supplied with standard calculations configured for all measurement types.

Recommendation

Do not change the supplied configuration, unless SAP has advised you to do so directly. However, the supplied measurement types may be copied and modified, as required.

Activities

1. Select the appropriate Measurement Type from the list displayed.

2. Double-click on Calculation.

The Change View Calculation: Overview screen appears.

3. Enter the calculation function desired to perform the calculation.

Note: If there is more than one function for the Measurement Type, specify the appropriate sequence of the     calculations in the Cseq column.

4. Make unique entries as required in the Calc column, since the entries are the keys to this calculation record.

5. Choose one of the calculations and then choose Observed parameters.

The Change View Observed parameters: Overview screen appears.

6. Enter observed parameters (reading IDs) for all inputs to the function. These must be entered with the sequence number in the order needed in the function, and/or with a parameter if the function has been set up with parameters.

7. Choose Derived parameters.

The Change View Derived parameters: Overview screen appears.

8. Enter derived parameters (reading IDs) for all outputs from the function. These must be entered with the sequence number in the order needed in the function, and/or with a parameter if the function has been set up with parameters.

9. Continue to enter observed and derived parameters as required for each calculation.

10. Save the calculation assignment(s).
