Use
In this IMG activity you can indicate that the new function for linking two claims is to be used. With this new function, the link type must be specified.
There are two ways in which you can link claims:
- Old Function Without Specifying the Link Type Here you assign the relevant claim at claim header level on the Claim Overview tab page in the Assigned Objects section in the Object Category field.
This old function is available in SAP Claims Management 6.00 (and earlier releases). You can continue to use this function if you so wish (see below under Scenario A).
Technical information on this old function:
- The link between two claims takes place in the BDT views ICLC12 AND ICLC13.
- The entries are saved in database table ICLCLAIMA.
- New Function Specifying the Link Type
Here you assign the relevant claim at claim header level on the Claim Overview tab page in the Claim-Claim Link section. You specify the relevant link type for each link.
In the Assigned Objects section, the claim subobject category Claim is no longer displayed in the input help of the Object Category field. This means that you cannot create any link to another claim from here.
The new function offers the following advantages over the old function:
- The link type specified for the linked claims indicates the business or technical reason for the link between the claims (such as "mother claim" and "child claim" with a delivery).
- In a claim, on the Claim Overview screen, you see an overview of all the claims with which this particular claim is linked.
- You can create the link to another claim more quickly than with the old function.
The new function is available as from SAP Claims Management 6.00, Support Package 5.
Technical information on this new function:
- The link between two claims is done in BDT view ICLASG.
- The entries are saved in database table ICLCLAIMASSIGN.
Customers can now choose between the following scenarios:
- Scenario A:
The customer has already used the old function for linking two claims
and wants to continue using this method. He/she specifically does not wish to use the new functionality where the link type has to be stated.
In this scenario, you need to do the following:
- In this IMG activity, do not set the Use of New View indicator.
- Hide the BDT section ICLASG on the relevant screen.
- To do so, perform IMG activity Claim Task Level Menu and choose Screen Layout -> Screens.
- Scenario B:
The customer has already used the old function for linking two claims, but wants to use the new function as of Release 6.00, support package 5.
In this scenario, you need to do the following:
- Set the Use of New View indicator.
- Nothing has to be done in BDT Customizing, meaning that you do not have to hide BDT section ICLASG.
The result is as follows:
- You use the new function to create new links between two claims, meaning that you specify a link type in the Claim-Claim Links section.
- Existing links between two claims (from earlier releases) are displayed in the new Claim-Claim Links section.
- You can only delete these old links here, you cannot change them.
- Scenario C:
The customer has not used the old function for linking two claims.
In theory, such customers can also use the old function, but in this case we recommend usage of the new function.
In this scenario, you need to do the following:
- Set the Use of New View indicator.
- Nothing needs to be done in BDT Customizing.
Note:
The above information only refers to links between two claims, and not to links between claims and claim bundles or subclaims and collective subrogation/recovery.
