Use
In this IMG activity you define object types of a claim item.
The object type classifies a claim item in greater detail than the benefit type. When you capture a claim item during claims processing, you can use the object type to enter additional data. You need this information for certain claim items, such as for the evaluation of the claim item or for direct integration of vendors (example: the damaged object is a bicycle. For procurement via a vendor you require more detailed information on the bicycle).
The object type has no influence on the limits and deductibles that are valid for the claim item. The same limits and deductibles apply for all claim items of the same benefit type.
All the object types created here are automatically given the damage category of damaged item (PE). In the Claims Management system you can only create claim items for damaged items. For other damage categories (such as Vehicle), you create damaged objects. A damaged object can give rise to several claim items.
You need object types to configure a benefit type tree (IMG activity Configure Benefit Type Trees). There you define which of the object types defined here is permitted for a benefit type.
Note
When you define an object type for claim items in this IMG activity, this object type is automatically transferred to the entries ( view) of IMG activity Define Types of Damaged or Insured Object and assigned to the damage category Item or object category Home Contents & Equipment (PE).
The object type of the claim items is a special form of the object type of the insured object, but it refers exclusively to the damage category Item (PE).
