In this step, you define the distribution key used to distribute orders to daily quantities according to operating time.
You then enter this 8-character key in the step entitled, Define distribution function for daily distribution. This means that in the planning table in capacity planning, the operating time is taken into account for the distribution function.
A distribution that is based on operating time takes available capacity of a selected capacity category, and shifts into account. This means that the system distributes the quantity to be produced within the time required for the production of the quantity - calculated on the basis of capacities available.
Example
If, according to the available capacity, the production of a quantity of 100 pieces will take half of Tuesday, all of Wednesday and the half of Thursday, then the system would distribute the quantity as follows:
