In this step, you define the fields which are relevant for contract grouping as well as the rules by which the system copies data from the master contract into the lower level contracts. The fields can be classified into three categories:

  • Identical fields
    • A master contract can only be referenced by a contract if the fields in the master contract and the contract match.
  • Copy fields
    • The values of these fields are copied from the master contract into the lower level contract. Deviating values in the lower level contract are not allowed.
  • Proposal fields
    • The values of these fields are copied from the master contract into the lower level contract. However, you can overwrite them in the lower level contract. If you change the master contract, the system only copies the proposal fields in the lower level contract if the fields in both documents had the same value before the master contract was changed.

You can use the Message field to specify whether the system issues a message in the lower level contract informing you of the changes it will copy from the master contract into the lower level contract.
