You can use the stringent FIFO procedure -- as opposed to the FIFO procedure -- to find the oldest quant of a material within an entire warehouse (that is, in all the storage types together). For strict FIFO the system ignores the individual stock removal strategies when it searches through the individual storage types since this could cause data inconsistencies.
Beforehand, you need to exclude certain storage types from the stringent FIFO principle so that the system does not make incorrect stock removal proposals. These storage types include:
- interim record for differences
- interim record for the initial entry of inventory data
- interim storage types for posting changes and stock transfers
- goods issue interim storage type
- other storage types (depending on your individual warehouse organization)
If you search for a material using the strategy "Stringent FIFO", the system excludes the quants in the above storage types from the search.
Notes
If the check for the shelf life expiration date is active in your system, the system will search for the oldest quant using the shelf life expiration date, not the goods receipt date for those materials which have the shelf life expiration date set.
Activities
- Decide whether or not you want to use this stock removal strategy.
- Activate the stock removal strategy by entering *** in the first storage type field.
- Mark all the storage types that you want to exclude from the "Stringent FIFO" procedure.
- If you want to use the stringent FIFO strategy with the shelf life expiration date, activate SLED management for the respective warehouse number.
Further notes
For further information on the topic "Shelf Life Expiration Date", refer to the topic Define strategy "SLED"
