In this IMG activity, you define treatment categories that on an institution basis.

Treatment categories are used to reduce the number of entries you have to make when

  • Assigning cases to case classifications (chief physician choice, for example)
  • Entering services.

They also serve to characterize all or part of a patient's stay in your healthcare facility.

Example

N     Normal patient

E     External physician patient

P1B     Private patient private room

P1T     Private patient private room + telephone

P2B     Private patient semi-private room

PAT1    Pre-admission treatment first visit

PAT2    Pre-admission treatment follow-up visit

PDT     Post-discharge treatment

F     Flat rate per case patient

I     Intensive care patient

Activities

You define a treatment category by specifying:

  • The institution (Inst. field)
  • A user-defined key for the treatment category (max. 6 characters, alphanumeric, TCtgry field)
  • A short text for the treatment category (Short Text field)
  • The description of the treatment category (Description field)
  • A validity period in the Valid From and Valid To fields.
  • An accommodation category (Accomm. Ctgry field)
  • If needs be, you can specify that a treatment category is only to be valid for (one) particular case type(s). You do this by flagging the appropriate checkbox:
    • Inpatient
    • Outpatient
    • Day Pat.

Further notes

  • The treatment category is managed for a case on a movement basis. In other words, it can be set to P1B when the patient is admitted into your healthcare facility, then changed to I when the patient is transferred to an intensive care unit. Depending on further settings, the system then generates or adjusts the corresponding services.
  • You can use the validity period to specify that a particular treatment category can only be used, or should be blocked as of a certain date. In this case, the system uses the respective date of the movement (e.g. the admission date) as the key date when carrying out the check in the related movement transactions. You cannot, however, create the same treatment category with different validity periods.
