In this IMG activity, you set the

client-specific control parameters of the system. These parameters involve:

  • Specifying the IS-H country version
  • Setting up the client-specific identification of patients
  • Specifying the modulo method for calculating the check digit
  • Excluding characters from search string entry
  • Activating IS-H*MED
  • Activating the phonetic patient index search
  • Specifying the special character to prevent field values from being transferred in batch input mode

These parameters are covered in detail in this documentation.

  1. Country Version

For each client, you must specify the IS-H country version you are working with. The available country versions are listed in the value help.

Caution: The country version you specify considerably influences the functionality and data storage of the IS-H System. Changing this value in production operation can lead to data inconsistencies and errors in functionality.

  2. Client-Specific Patient Identification

You can manage patients on a client basis or on an institution basis in the IS-H System.

    • If patients are to be recognized not only in the institution in which they were created, you have to select this indicator.

If patients are to be recognized only in the institution in which they were created, you should not select this indicator. The latter setting can be necessary to comply with data protection legislation.

  1. Modulo Method for Check Digit Calculation

In this field, you maintain the modulo method for calculating the check digit for the patient and case numbers. At present, the check digit is calculated in the IS-H System using the ISO 7064 modulo 10 or modulo 11 algorithm.

  2. Characters Excluded from Search String Entry

In this field, you can specify (special) characters that the system automatically removes from the standardized search string in search fields, for example in the patient index search or the business partner search. Make sure that you do not "separate" the special characters using spaces.

This option is a response to the fact that a number of database systems terminate if certain special characters are specified in the search string. To prevent system termination, you can enter characters such as §$&/()=#.:,; that the system ignores when the standardized search string is created.

Note that you can no longer search generically if this field contains the masking characters *+%_.

    Technical Note

The special characters are only excluded from the standardized string that is necessary for the search function. They are retained in the original string. If special characters are to be excluded automatically from the original string, you have to maintain the Characters Excluded at Name Entry parameter in the IMG activity Set Up Institution-Specific Basic Control.

    Warning

Changing the contents of this field in production operation can result in patients and business partners no longer being found with the search function.

  3. IS-H*MED Active

If you use IS-H*MED components in your system, you have to select this indicator.

  4. Phonetic Patient Index Search Active

In addition to the standardized search procedure, you can also search for patients' last names phonetically. If you select this indicator, the Phonetic radio button is displayed in each patient search screen. To search for a patient phonetically, select this radio button. Note that you also have to maintain a user exit for the phonetic search. This user exit enables you to determine the phonetic search procedure (event PHON). For more information about user exits, refer to the section entitled Configure Customer User Exits.

If you activate this indicator in production operation, you have to set up the phonetic code for all available names in the patient database. To do this, run report RNUPHON0.

  5. Special Characters to Prevent Field Values from Being Transferred in Batch Input Mode

In this field, you can store a special character which specifies whether a field should not be transferred in batch input mode.

If the first position of a field from a sequential file contains this special character and the field contains no further digits, the field is not transferred. In this way, when you create a record, the system proposes values from Customizing or from corresponding master files, and when you change a record, the existing values are not overwritten.

    Example

    Batch input for service entry

    Example special character: /

    Billing indicator master rec: X

    Billing indicator file: / -> determined: X

Billing indicator file: space -> transferred: space

    Billing indicator file: X -> transferred: X

If you want to create or reset the client-specific control parameters, perform the IMG activity Reset Client.
