In this step, you define variants that can be used to locate schedule deviations for operations and phases in process orders. You define variants for specific plants.
Enter the following for each variant:
- selection criteria for operations and phases that should be taken into account for deviation recording
- parameters for recognizing deviations (for example, tolerances)
- SAP office users or distributors to whom deviations should be reported
If you want to define different tolerances for different operations (for example, with different resources), you should create several variants with the corresponding selection criteria. In this case, you should ensure that the variant with the more restrictive selection criteria is given a lower serial number than those with the less restrictive selection criteria because the variants are processed in sequence according to their serial number.
Example
Resource A is to have a deviation tolerance of 5% whereas for all other resources it is to be 10%. In this case you should create a variant for resource A with 5% and another variant for all other resources with 10%. Assign, for example, the serial number "010" to the variant with 5% and the number "020" to the variant with 10%.
Activities
Create the required variants for every plant.
Further notes
Once operations have been released, a background job is run to check whether there are deviations for these operations that lie outside the tolerances defined for this variant. In the case of deviations, a message is sent to a user or a distribution list given in the variant.
