In this step, you set up the proration types for Annual Wage Supplement (AWS) amount processing. These will be used in the Bonus (AWS) Calculation report (HTHCAWS0) to determine how bonuses are to be calculated for part-months. To accomplish this, you specify the part amount to be paid depending on whether the event which led to the formation of a part-month period occurred before or after the respective month's qualifying date.
Example
Consider that an employee has been hired on March 16, 1999. If the AWS processing for the period Jan 1, 1999 to Dec 31, 1999 is based on proration by number of months, the AWS amount for this employee can differ based on the proration type chosen. If the proration type chosen is such that, the part-month is to be considered only if the employee is hired before the 15th of that month, then for this employee the part-month March will not be considered while calculating AWS amount. Only the period April 1, 1999 to December 31, 1999 will be considered for AWS calculation.
Requirements
Standard settings
The SAP standard delivery system contains sample entries which depict the most common proration types. If you want to use these, you must first copy them from client 000, since the table in which they are stored possesses delivery class C.
Recommendation
SAP recommends that you use the entries provided in the standard delivery system. If you create new proration types, you may have to adapt the Bonus (AWS) Calculation report (HTHCAWS0) accordingly in order to incorporate them in the AWS amount calculation.
Activities
Check the entries of the standard delivery system. If you want to change them, proceed as follows:
- Select New entries.
- Enter a two-digit numeric key which identifies the prorate type in the SAP system in the Rounding Type field.
- Enter a description.
- Specify a validity period.
- Set the qualifying dates for hiring and terminating an employee.
- Specify the part amounts to be paid if the event which causes a proration takes place before or after the qualifying date.
- Save your entries.
