Use

This IMG activity enables you to set Counter Events for background events and workflow events used in the HR Process Workbench. The only counterevents you can assign to background events are background events and the only counterevents you can assign to workflow events are workflow events.

You can also set a combination of event and event parameter as counterevent for background events. The counterevent is only effective, however, if the event is triggered by this very event parameter.

If the event is triggered by another parameter, the counterevent will not be effected. You can also set an event parameter for a counterevent of a background event.

You can use indicator Do not start process if counterevent occurs to determine the response of the HR Process Workbench should the counterevent occur.

Please refer to the SAP Library under Human Resources -> Payroll -> Payroll <Country> -> Payroll in the SAP-System -> Payroll in a Background Operation > HR Process Workbench for further information on the use of events in the HR Process Workbench.

Example

In the HR Process Workbench you need to plan processes in such a way, that they are started as soon as program A has imported certain data into SAP R/3 from a third-party system and the SAP R/3 system has been switched to night operation. However, the processes should not be started until program B has finished processing the imported data. For this purpose you should create the background events END_OF_IMPORT and START_OF_PROCESSING in transaction SM62 (Display/Change Event Discriptions). As soon as program A has finished, this will trigger the event END_OF_IMPORT. When program B is executed, this will trigger the event START_OF_PROCESSING. You can set the event START_OF_PROCESSING as counterevent to the event END_OF_IMPORT. Do not select indicator Do not start process if counterevent occurs.

In the HR Process Workbench you plan a process dependent on the event END_OF_IMPORT and operation mode Night Operation. The event END_OF_IMPORT is triggered, the operation mode, however, has not yet been switched to night operation. A user executes program B, which triggers event START_OF_PROCESSING. The occurance of this event undoes the occurance of event END_OF_IMPORT. The process is not started, even when operation mode is is switched to night operation. However, the process can still be started when the event END_OF_IMPORT occurs again and operation mode is switched to night operation again.
