Because of the large number of fields that it can contain, the asset master record in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) component is divided up into several tab pages (that look like index cards). In this step, you define the layout of these tab pages (the tab layout).
You can specify which tab pages are seen for each asset class (or if needed, by chart of depreciation within the asset class). For each tab page, you can specify which field groups appear in which positions on the tab page.
Note
Any field groups that contain required entry fields must appear on a tab page in the master record.
Requirements
You must have already created your
asset classes.
Standard settings
SAP supplies a tab layout rule containing all field groups.
Activities
- Create tab layout rules.
- Enter keys and descriptions for the tab layout rules.
- Define the tab pages to be used in the layout rule (New entries) and specify the position and the title of the tab page.
- The maximum number of tab pages is eight.
- For each tab page, specify the field groups that should appear, and the positions in which thay should appear.
- The maximum nuber of field groups allowed on a tab page is seven.
- Specify the positions of the tab pages.
- Assign each of your asset classes one tab layout rule.
- You can also make the layout rules dependent on the chart of depreciation. To do so, enter a different layout rule within the asset class for each chart of depreciation.
If you do not make any chart-of-depreciation-dependent entries, the layout rule you enter applies to the entire asset class.
