In this step you define the number ranges for sample management. These number ranges are defined for:

  • Physical sample numbers
  • Physical-sample-drawing numbers

Number ranges for samples are valid for certain fiscal years.

  • Physical sample numbers
  • For the sample numbers familiarize yourself with the standard settings.
    Tip: Since the number area for physical-sample numbers is generously calculated, you can use the first places as mnemonic coding for organizational purposes.
    Note: You cannot delete number range 00, since this number range is required by the program, if you create physical samples manually and enter purely numeric physical-sample numbers.
    Alphanumeric physical-sample numbers are only checked for unambiguity.
  • Physical-sample-drawing numbers
  • Copy the standard settings for the physical-sample-drawing numbers.

Activities

  1. Identify the sample types for which you need your own number ranges and define these number ranges for the fiscal years that have been set.
  2. Check whether you need number ranges that are different from the standard settings for the drawing of physical samples and define these, if required.

You must transport number ranges manually.
