In this IMG step, you define the validity of expiring currencies in tables T500W (Valid Country Currencies) and TCURC (Currency Codes) . On December 31, 2001, any currencies involved in the European Monetary Union project (EMU) will cease to be valid currencies.
- In the view Valid Country Currencies of table T500W, set the validity period for the currency, with the start and end date.
- In the view Currencies of table TCURC, use the Detail view to set the end date for any currencies that are used in master data.
When you edit master data, the system checks whether the currency is valid for the entire infotype period. In the following cases, the system outputs a message:
- You are creating an infotype record with a currency that is only valid for part of the infotype period. In this case, the system outputs a warning message.
Example: The currency DEM is valid until December 31, 2001. Create an infotype record with a validity period of 01.01.2001 - 31.12.9999 in DEM.
- You want to create an infotype record with a currency that is not valid at any point during the validity period of the infotyoe record. In this case, the system outputs an error message. You cannot create the infotype record.
Example: The currency DEM is valid until December 31, 2001. You need to create an infotype record with a validity period of 01.01.2000 in DEM.

Recommendation
As infotype records are generally created with an end date of 31.12.9999 and the conversion reports automatically delimit and convert these records, we recommend that you only define the validity period of currencies shortly before the currency is converted. This will avoid any unnecessary warning messages when you edit master data.
