In this step, you configure the ATO LSL (Australian Taxation Office Long Service Leave) formula to divide lump-sum payments rendered by the employer in lieu of long service leave into the following components:

  • Pre-16 August 1978 component
  • Post-15 August 1978 component
  • Post-1993 Budget component

The ATO LSL formula calculates the values entered in the ATO LSL Formula Components screen, and creates wage types that are used to calculate tax in the Terminations/Redundancies program.

Requirements

The wage types that are generated by the ATO LSL formula, can be configured for hours or an amount. Make sure that the wage types you assign values to are configured correctly for hours or amounts. To configure your wage types, in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Payroll Australia go to Basic Settings -> Environment of Wage Type Maintenance -> Check wage type characteristics.

Exclude the LSL leave types so that they do not appear in the Termination Leave Payments Australia view (V_T5QTT).

To ensure correct taxation of the wage types, in the Payroll Australia IMG go to Taxation -> Tax Wage Types -> Define tax for wage types.

Standard settings

The standard system contains model SAP wage types that you can use or copy.

The wage types created by the ATO LSL formula function are the first wage types found in view V_512W with processing class 77 set to:

  • Pre '78
  • Post '78
  • Post '93

Hence you cannot have multiple wage types for each component.

Activities

To divide wage types into the appropriate lump-sum payments, you:

  1. Flag the relevant wage types, and choose Goto -> Details.
  2. Enter the appropriate specification for each wage type in processing class 77.
  3. Navigate between the wage types using Goto -> Next entry.

Further notes

If you have already divided your lump-sum payments into the pre-1978, post-1978, and post-1993 components, you can enter your leave types manually in the step Define leave on termination details.
